Fog of War (Napoleonic wars) game. Can’t find it?
Ok so yesterday I found this ad for a game that I believe was called Fog of War (Napoleonic wars). It is new and is similar to Evony. However, I adjusted my settings so that my web browser does not keep any History of websites I have visited and therefor lost the link. I did try searching google for it, and did not find what I was looking for, if you know what I am on about, please send me the link.

Is there a single player game similar to Evony/Travian etc.?
I saw the multiple deceptive adds for Evony, and I checked it out. I played the game for about 10 minutes, and while I was having fun, I stopped playing after I saw the “buy in game items with real money” system.
Sorry, but I’m not paying 100s of dollars to be able to fully access a 2010 game with 1995 graphics.
So here’s what I’m asking. Is there a real, physical, CD game with mechanics similar to Evony/Travian?
I know about Civilization and age of empires, but civ is turn based and age of empires is too fast paced for my liking.

Anno 1602: Creation of a New World (aka 1602 AD). its kinda old, released in north america in 2000 and europe in 1998. depending on game type you choose, you start either controlling a ship or on an island. An easy way is to pick one where you start with a ship, inhabit and island, fortify and maintain it, etc. Not too easy but there are cheats that work half the time. It is very much like evony and you can attack (or side with) npcs (i dont know if there is an online…) or try to stay to yourself.
Stronghold, released in 2001; another oldy. I think its a great game. you can do mission, which either involve defending a castle or attacking one. there are 4 main baddies, the first 3 of whom kinda suck. you can also pick a map and start your own castle, randomly attack things and spawn people to attack you (so its not boring). Towards the end SH gets hard, with 1 mission i remember as being nearly impossible. As far as i know the only cheat is to get a ton of gold for this game.
I have not played either of these games in a year or so, so i may be a little off with the plots, but im close. neither of them are merciful. you dont have like 20x the health of the npcs, so you better be sure you either have more guys or better defenses. Both are “real, physical, CD game”, and go for [1602- 25-40 us $ on ebay] and [SH- 35-40 us $ on ebay]. You might wanna check them out on youtube or something to see how they are.
P.S. the creeper alcoholic dude on the front of Stronghold is “The Wolf”…bum bum bum!
