Farmville Collectables: How To Expand Your Collection

Anyone who plays the online game of FarmVille on Facebook or on MSN Games understands this game’s compelling lure. Some call it downright addicting.

The game’s developers, Zynga Games, regularly introduce new elements meant to keep the players entranced. For example, a while back,  Zynga introduced the great FarmVille collectibles. These collectables enhance the game in yet another new way and succeed at  keeping people interested and participating actively.

The idea behind collectibles is the same as a real life collectiion.  If you collect baseball cards, for example, you work towards acquiring the full set.  It’s the same with FarmVille collectibles. You try to get the complete set, which Zynga calls a collection.

Why Collect Them at All?

FarmVille gamers collect  these virtual collectables because they want the full set. It’s no different than people who collect stamps in real life, or baseball cards, or silver spoons or Elvis memorabilia. Those people get one item for a lark, and then they get another one, and before you know it, a collection is underway. The same thing applies to the FarmVille collectibles.

You must also understand that each of these collectibles has special, individual features.  Each one is appealing, attractive, and different from every other item in the collection.

Perhaps more importantly, having collectables, especially a complete collection, is a status thing. It’s a way to brag and show off to your neighbors and to other FarmVille players.

And lastly, there are rewards for acquiring the whole collection.  Sometimes you win a ribbon for this achievement – and you can then show off your ribbon.

Regardless of the fun involved with FarmVille collectibles, you must realize that these items are taking your attention away from playing the main game. If your goal is to level up and acquire more FarmVille coin or FarmVille cash, you might well spend your time on these pursuits rather than hunting down collectibles.  The collectibles do not contribute to levelling up nor do they bring you coin.

How to Get FarmVille Collectables – Pop-ups

From time to time, a collectable could suddenly pop-up on your screen.   This is undoubtedly the easiest way to acquire collectables. You sit tight, bide your time, and one will appear as you go about your farming activities.

If you desire specific collectables, you must be doing the type of activity that attracts them.  That is, while you go about your farming chores such as plowing, fertilizing, gifting and harvesting, you may well receive a FarmVille collectable. On the other hand, when you are inactive, you will not receive a pop-up.

How toGet FarmVille Collectibles from your Neighbors

Waiting for spontaneous pop-ups leaves everything to chance. If you want a more sure-fire approach to getting a collectable, your best bet is to watch your live feeds and your news feeds from your neighbors  If you’re going to go this route, speed is your friend.  When someone offers a free collectable or other gift, game players usually snatch them within minutes and occasionally within seconds.  Remember the old saying: “He who hesitates is lost.

What Types of Collectables are Available?

The FarmVille collectables are not of equal availability.   It’s a similar situation to real life. Some collectables are a dime a dozen. Others are exceptionally scarce and therefore, more valuable.

Zynga Games, the developers, identify three categories of collectables. Those categories are common, uncommon and rare

Take bugs, for instance.  Ladybugs are common; the centipede is rare. When we turn to gardening fools, we see that gardening gloves are common. Shears are rare.

How do Some Players Acquire so Many Collectables?

FarmVille gamers are fond of complaining thatZynga distributes collectables unequally.  It is fairly typical to find that one player receives a multitude of rare collectables but a  limited number of common ones.  Or, perhaps your buddy has way more collectables than you do, even though you both have the same amount of neighbors.

This may be a bug in the system. Undoubtedly Zymba will initiate tweaks to correct this unbalance.

Games Centipede Questions

How much are the atari games centipede and pac man worth?

i have them

Now not much about 4;00 to3;00 dollars now in days since they are really old now and 2ed they were made in the 1990s so they aren’t worth nothing now sorry

The person who invented Pong calls Modern Video Games ‘Pure, Unadulterated Trash’ and I tend to agree, do you?

I remember when my dad bought me an Atari 7800 when I was little and I used to play centipede and Asteroids in the living room. He told me he can still hear that song in his head. I used to ask him to try and even though he wasn’t that good at it I fount it fun playing games with him. When I got the NES, Genesis, and early computer games (like Xwing) it was the same thing.

Eventually games started becoming like soldier of fortune and these hardcore, really violent games that I wouldn’t really want my parents to see me playing. Since I was a teenager I played some of them just because I felt like I shouldn’t be playing them.

Now that I’m in my mid 20’s I still play games, but I’ve found that most are these hardcore games that are more like tech demos than fun to play games. I would never get the whole family together to play any of these new games. I think the Wii has sold so well because people can all play it together.

Being raised in the “Atari age” I can say firsthand, that games have indeed come a long way. But it is a double edged sword. as graphics got better and better, gameplay has suffered. If you look at the best, long living games they all have one thing in common. You can pick them up play them for a while, and put them down after awhile feeling satisfied. Whereas games like Warcraft and the like dominate people’s spare time. Some games nowaday are so incredibly frustrating, they are not appealing to the gamers from my generation. Rpg’s are fun, but demand long and tiring sessions waiting to get to the next save point. Games like GRAW, are too complicated for most, and they feel more like they are doing work than having fun. Not to say that games are no longer fun, But this is why Bushnell thinks games are trash, and to a point I agree.

But games like Resident evil, Halo, and almost anything on the wii are for those casual gamers that just want to play for awhile, then go do something else. Graphics do not a game make, but these three have killer graphics, as well as suitable control that most can pick up and play. I think Micro$oft has the right attitude, make something for everyone
